At the foot of the cross,where I kneel in adorationAnd I lay my burdens downI exchange all my sinfor the promise of salvationAnd Your name across my browAt the foot of the cross,I give up my vain ambitionAnd I leave my selfish prideIn the peace that is there,will You restore my vision?In all the places I am blindI will wait here at the crossI will wait here at the crossI will wait here at the crossI will wait here at the crossAt the foot of the crossthere is healing for this nationThere is rest for those who waitAnd the love that we findis the hope of all creationWe are stunned by what You gaveWe will wait here at the crossWe will wait here at the crossWe will wait here at the crossWe will wait here at the crossWe will wait at the cross,a hungry generationWith our broken hearts and livesWill You hear? Will You come?Will You fill our desperation?Oh God let this be the time

Praise to the Holiest...
I just caught the end of Songs of Praise tonight to hear them singing "Praise to the Holiest in the heights".
I've always enjoyed singing the song, it's got lovely poetry and a nice tune.
Anyway, as I read the words going past I realised how much truth and power they contain! We are losing these old songs to our detriment!
To see the words take a look at: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/p/r/praiseto.htm

Everyday I am swayed...
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
Sometimes I believe all the liesSo I can do the things I should despiseAnd every day I am swayedBy whatever is on my mindI hear it all depends on my faithSo I'm feeling precariousThe only problem I have with these mysteriesIs they're so mysteriousAnd like a consumer I've been thinkingIf I could just get a bit moreMore than my 15 minutes of faith,Then I'd be secure(Chorus)My faith is like shifting sandChanged by every waveMy faith is like shifting sandSo I stand on graceI've begged you for some proofFor my Thomas eyes to seeA slithering staff, a leprous handAnd lions resting lazilyA glimpse of your back-side gloryAnd this soaked altar going ablazeBut you know I've seen so muchI explained it away(Chorus)Waters rose as my doubts reignedMy sand-castle faith, it slipped awayFound myself standing on your graceIt'd been there all the time(Chorus repeated)

March On!
Shout aloud salvation, and we'll have another song;Sing it with a spirit that will start the world along;Sing it as our comrades sang it many a thousand strong,As the were marching to Glory.March on, march on! we bring the jubilee;Fight on, fight on! salvation makes us free;We'll shout our Saviour's praises over every land and seaAs we go marching to Glory.How the anxious shout it when they hear the joyful sound!How the weakest conquer when the Saviour they have found!How our grand battalions with triumphant power abound,As we go marching to Glory.So we'll make a thoroughfare for Jesus and his train;All the world shall hear us as fresh converts still we gain;Sin shall fly before us for resistance is in vain,As we go marching for Glory.March on, march on! we bring the jubilee;Fight on, fight on! salvation makes us free;We'll shout our Saviour's praises over every land and seaAs we go marching to Glory.

Lay it Down
To help me do that I am using a song called "Lay it down", by Jaci Velasquez (lyrics here) which includes the chorus:
So I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna learn to trust You now
What else can I do?
Cause everything I am depends on You
And if the sun don't come back up
I know Your love will be enough
I'm gonna let it be, I'm gonna let it go,
I'm gonna lay it down.
And also use the verse from Jeremiah 29:11 (paraphrased) "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (emphasis added).
God knows what He's doing. Sometimes we just have to give in, and go along with it, even if we don't understand. Why me? Why like this? Why now? I don't know, but I know I trust Him.

Take time to be Holy
1.
Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in him always, and feed on his word;
Make friends of God's children; help those who are weak;
Forgetting in nothing his blessing to seek.
2.
Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret with Jesus alone;
By looking to Jesus, like him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct his likeness shall see.
3.
Take time to be holy, let him be thy guide,
And run not before him whatever betide;
In joy or in sorrow still follow thy Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in his word.
4.
Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul;
Each thought and each motive beneath his control;
Thus led by his Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.
William Dunn Longstaff (1822-94)
